Torsdag
den 13. november 2003 kl. 19.00 holder professor Kemal Nisancioglu, NTNU
foredrag om korrosion af aluminium. Mødet holdes på DTU, bygning 101,
mødelokale 2 (opad trappen ved Polyteknisk Boghandel).
Kemal
Aqueous Corrosion of
Impure Aluminium
Kemal Nisancioglu,
Department of Materials Technology

of Science and Technology
On impure aluminium and aluminium alloys corrosion depends on the
surface microstructure, which in turn is determined by thermo mechanical and
chemical processing of the material. The
talk attempts to demonstrate the strong correlation between the surface
microstructure and surface quality in general, with emphasis on new nanoscale
characterization methods. Together with brief introduction to the basics of
localized corrosion, pitting and the contemporary problem of filiform corrosion
are discussed. Ways of controlling and exploiting the near surface chemistry
and microstructure for engineering the surface for improved corrosion
resistance and quality are further discussed.
